Partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Frederick County
Corporations, businesses, faith based organizations, and fraternity groups were involved with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program from its inception. During the past thirty-one years, partnerships have evolved with new initiatives. Currently more than fifty businesses and groups are partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Frederick County to benefit children. The partners are involved in recruiting volunteers, donating funds, organizing activities for children, sponsoring a golf tournament, bowl-a-thon and other fund raising events, and offering in-kind support to reach yearly goals and objectives.
How a partnership works: A business, group or faith based partner contacts our agency or vice versa and offers support. The agency director meets with the person in charge from the partnering organization to discuss ways to meet BBBS program needs. Often the agency is invited to meet with the community services department, set up a volunteer recruitment booth; employees participate in the golf or bowling events. The corporations or groups donate directly through its corporate contributions. Larger corporations encourage the agency to apply for foundation grants for one to three year long short or long term programs meeting computer illiteracy, adult companionship, mentoring, and other life skill needs. All corporations receive a tax deduction letter from the agency.
Please contact Sushil Bhattacharjee, Executive Director, and BBBS of Frederick County at bbbs@crosslink.net for additional information and setting up a partnership initiative.
